Sneaker Culture

If you're into sneaker culture then you must see (if you haven't already) Just For Kicks. Regardless, if you have or have not there was a smaller documentary made that was out on youtube titled Soled Out. It doesn't have the length or extensive history but it is well made and still holds up over the years. Check it out below, it's interesting to see how sneaker culture has changed/not changed over the past few years.

Jeremy Scott X adidas originals 2012 preview!!!

Companies are always out there trying to improve their brand by making it current and relevant. Everything is about being cool and to be honest, all companies are competing against Nike. In my professional opinion the company that is right next Nike is adidas (purposely spelled with a lowercase, thats how you do it!). They have an enormous amount of talent on their roster in the sports world, however adding designer Jeremy Scott to their company has given them a boost of cool and fashion relevancy. You have seen celebrities such as Kanye West, Lady Gaga and Vanessa Hudgens wear this dudes stuff. He offers a variety of styles ‘cats’ in the street can wear all the way to the runway at fashion week. Here is a preview of his 2012 campaign with adidas. I am digging a few pieces. What do you think?

What happened to Kid Sister?

I remember Kid Sister was being set up to take over the female rap game and then all of a sudden...nothing happened. She had a dope track with Kanye West and had the support of producer/DJ A-Trak. Everything was beginning to look good for Kid Sister. She was going to hit fame but her vigorous energy has died down. She is still making music but I was expecting her to be the next big thing. Can she still or has her time passed? Here is a fun video feat Kanye West.

NIKE AIR YEEZY 2 SNEAK PEEK!!

The Spring of 2009 brought us one of the most anticipated sneaker release in many years. Some may argue the most internationally. What shoes do I speak of? The Air Yeezy's. You can check them out here if you've never seen them before. It is now 2011 and in 2012 we will have the Yeezy 2's coming out. Kanye has been seen wearing the much sought after black and pink pair in the streets and most currently at the Victoria Secret event where him and Jay-Z performed. Here is a photo of a pair Kanye gave to Pecas, Def Jam VP of promotions. I failed in getting the Yeezy's in 2009, I shall not fail in 2012.

Lo-Lifes Documentary

Ralph Lauren has constructed an American staple clothing company with Polo. Originally created as a high end brand it found its way into main stream America's daily outfit rotation, especially that of the the lower-income youth. Polo became a highly coveted luxury brand and also started a new wave of fashion and a following, calling themselves "Lo-Lifes". They would wear Polo from head to toe whether they were to buy or steal the apparel. Here is a great mini-documentary about this life-style and culture. Enjoy.

One of my favorite shows, How to Make it in America is coming back for its second season. Kid Cudi popped in to visit my favorite host Conan O'Brian. First off, I am excited to hear about the show. But as soon as Cudi stepped on stage I got upset. He has on the Nike Back to the Future joints! Those are so dope, I need those in my life. I'm glad his money went to a good cause.

Music Video: Dean and Ravo, "Walkin Around"

I love finding out about new music and I was hella excited to be sent a link to Dean and Ravo: Walkin Around. The combination of rapper and singer can be great when the two compliment each other and this group seems to have good chemistry. Look for these dudes to blow up soon.

Theophilus London: Wine and Chocolate

Brooklyn's own Theophilus London is back with more smooth hip hop. Overall, I enjoy most of his tunes (with the occasional wtf moment) and I usually chill out with the head bopping beats. "Wine and Chocolate" is really good driving music and the music video is rather interesting. The video, which is directed by Chris Dunn had my eyeballs swerving back and forth. Chris splits the screen and plays the video in real time and also in reverse. When you watch the video you'll see what I mean. Enjoy.

Publish clothing

Many brands come and go and rightfully so. There is not much longevity with many brands. However, one will come along once and a while with much potential. Publish clothing has been around for a couple of years now and what I've seen, I really like. This is their first look book video and I am hoping they make another, fast!

RICH KDS CLUB

Have you ever thought to yourself, "Damn, this outfit would be awesome if I just had the right accessory to go with it."? At one point adding too many layers is doing too much and you begin to look like a nasty tamale. So what can you do? Easy, find an accessory or two to enhance your look. Where can you find accessories? A killer spot to pick up some dope looks is www.richkidsclub.com. This site has a variety of sunglasses (tinted and clear), watches, bracelets, jewelry and much more. You can see artists like John West and Lil Playy rocking Rich Kids Club.

Virgil Abloh: Kanye's stylist

I know that many celebrities have their own stylists but I always thought Ibn Jasper was Kanye's. Nope, it turns out that it is Virgil Abloh who has opened up a shop named RSVP with one of his partners. I've seen this guy around with Kanye and honestly had no idea he was a stylist. Does Kanye need one? Here is a little behind these scenes of some of his work and I am truly digging his gold Jesus piece.

Vegas baby, Vegas

It has been a few years since I've been to Vegas. I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to head to Vegas this past weekend(Easter 2011). The trip for me was speculation. I knew about the trip because I was invited about a month prior. However, what was the point? I knew one person well and the others I meet once or twice. One of those member were drunk as hell the first time I met her (you know who you are). How much fun could I really have? "I need to work", was my thought process. With the insistence of my friend Nic and new friend Veronica (sis) I decided to purchase a flight leaving Los Angeles on Saturday night and arrive in Las Vegas an hour later. Why not? Not knowing people has never stopped me from engaging in activities in the past. I actually love to meet new people and experience different things.
Life has a way of working in your favor because as soon as I arrived at the Venetian hotel I was greeted with love (drink ready for me) and I should add that I was looking dapper with my bow tie. I also got us kinda plugged into club Marqee (Kinda, sorry guys, especially Jeff. But all the ladies got in free). So with my 6 new Vegas buddies we ventured off and I must say that I have not had as much fun or laughed as hard in a 24hr period in a very long time. We were busting jokes, drinking, meeting new friends, dancing, meeting more people, lost some friends, lost cell phones, some people were making out with girls who love it if your 28, rescued lost friends, ate a 4am breakfast, walked in on people having sex, busted more jokes and eventually got some sleep (very little). This was only the first night. The next day of course was a recovery day but the drive back (I did not fly) was even funnier than the trip. We had so many fun experiences as we began to recall our night. We also had to recall experiences for people who were too messed up to remember what happened. We danced some Michael Jackson, listened to some J Dilla and even popped in some Daft Punk.

I was super glad that I went to Vegas. I did not know what to expect, however I went with it. I want to shout out my Vegas hommies and say thank you to Veronica, Candice, Nic, Jeff, John and Nel. Thank you for a fun experience. Thank you for making me laugh and thank you for your love. This trip is one that will definitely be difficult to top, however I will try.

So, not sure if I buy what these guys are saying. Style, all of these styles have been done and they have copied them from other people. Artist are creative with some things, fashion is always an iffy ground. However, I do enjoy their swag and the way the video is shot more than anything.
